Crossie's First Interview

On: Sunday, March 22, 2009

Day 20 of entry, HOT HOT HOT.

Cross got an interview for a magazine~ Well, the magazine will be released on the mid of July 2009. It's not a formal one, but still, it's an interview. Brought along Crossie's dear prezs and former-prez. I got pretty high as I wore Jason Mraz original T-shirt to the interview. His new album "We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things" is a MUST-GET!!! The interview was quite an experience[duh, it's Crossie's first time, what else??]. Brought along my original sketches and character designs, plus a portfolio for showing my "so-called" artworks from since I started doing proper Manga.

Q: When did you begin creating Prince of Glory? Is it the first time creating a full Manga?
A: It's not really the first time. I actually created this Manga when I was 13 years old. At first the story is titled --- Bloody Cross[when I think of it now, it looks tacky..] with elements about the supernatural, priests and saints those sort of things. Hiko was set as a priest working in a church..=3= Plus, Johanna[Hiko's childhood friend] was set as a male character. This story has been edited and redo lots of times, until it turns out to be Prince of Glory now. The manga Prince of Glory is probably the 3rd or 4th time I redrawn, and I might redo it again at the end of this year because of my "still" disatisfaction *laughs maniacly*.

Q: Tell us about Prince of Glory is all about.
A:
It's a story about an organization, run by the "one and all powerful" Prince of Glory to restablish unstable countries. Although it runs successfully, there're some others who object the way he run the organization, formed a rebellion against the organization and attack villages and towns protected by the organization. To overcome this matter, a special force, the Disciples are sent to protect the villages and towns. Since the Disciples are a special rank of the organization that requires special skills, the job is a hard-to-get although many have signed-up for the job failed. The first chapter is about a scooter-delivery boy named Hiko[the main character] whose dreamed to become a disciple. He signed-up a long time ago but didn't get a reply which leads to disappointment to him. Then he meets up with a childhood friend of his who's a successful disciple during his delivery.
Although, it looks like a Sci-Fi Fantasy manga, it still has special characters like vampires and others[will be in later chapters, I hope...].

Q: What is the most important lesson you learnt while creating your manga?
A:
My skill are still like landmines, have to improve more!!" Somehow I am still unsatisfied with my skills...maybe it's just me...

Q: Do you have other hobbies besides drawing manga?
A:
Photography, Classical and Jazz Music.

Q: What inspires you as an artist?
A:
Me.

Q: Can you share about your aspirations? Do you dream of becoming a mangaka someday?
A:
Successfully finished creating all my manga works and if I get the chance, I'll publish them. Yes, but only as a sideline/part-time. Since I'm a student from Science-stream, I might as well continue my studies on Science. Some said that this will be a waste of my skills and I kinda agree with them. But I don't think I can stand on my own two feet facing reality if I give up on Science and pursue on drawing Manga. Still, I WILL draw Manga XD.

Well, the questions asked was about like this... The others.... well, I don't know what to type XD. Then we start talking about our society. Ah~ my dear prezs are a big help~ Well, before the session ends, Rei[the organizer and editor who's interviewing us, the one holding the camera wearing green shirt], said that during the judging session, when the judges saw my work, they thought my work had involved plagarism[means I copied some artist's work] until they see the character design sketches I sent them. They got shock to see that I can draw like a "pro['pro' my foot!!]" in such a young age.

They say the Manga I sent will be publish on the magazine and asked me to continue the Manga. Well, that's too bad because I'm gonna redo the whole thing at the end of this year~~ Maybe I can get a freelance job for the magazine next year....
